Affective
neuroscience
Affective neuroscience is a field that deals with the search for neurophysiological correlates of human emotion. With our approach we fundamentally seek to provide an objective description of neural processes that give rise to different emotional states when we experience the world. Towards this end, we make use of neurological and biometric equipment.
The discovery of cutting edge knowledge and solutions for the wellbeing of humanity and the future of the planet is a complex endeavor, demanding various research approaches.
Measurement of the peripheral nervous system
Human beings use both the central and the peripheral nervous systems to react to our environment. The latter includes facial expressions, breathing, perspiration, and heartrate. These types of measurements can improve the accuracy of discovery of pleasure, while simultaneously allowing for the development of biometric tools for broader use through their simplicity, availability, and mobility.

Psychological and sensory analyses
AST Research Center is developing a broad array of psychological, phenomenological, and sensory methodologies that constitute powerful tools for exploring the human condition and experience. By integrating social science and anthropological approaches, we are also studying the influence of the broader sociocultural context on our experience.
Artificial intelligence and machine learning
The key characteristics of AST Research Center are speed and large throughput. Throughout the year, we daily perform measurements of neural and physiological activity, as well as acquire behavioral data. The result of this work are huge standardized datasets that lend themselves to the analysis with the help of the latest approaches in the field of artificial intelligence.

Augmented and virtual reality
Augmented and virtual reality hold the potential of fundamentally changing our field of experience and attitude towards the world in the near future. The goal of AST Research Center is to monitor and contribute to the crucial shifts in this area, and implement these technologies for development of sustainable solutions.
